Breast Augmentation Toronto
BBA / Bilateral Breast Augmentation, Toronto, New York
Many women choose to enhance the size, shape and position of their breasts with bilateral breast augmentation, making this procedure one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries in North America. Dr. Born is one of the most experienced breast augmentation surgeons in the U.S and Canada and is known for ensuring the most natural and beautiful look and feel for his breast augmentation patients. Breast augmentation using silicone or saline filled implants can help some patients achieve a fuller cup size, firmer and more symmetrical breasts, and better positioning for a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing breast contour.
What is Bilateral Breast Augmentation?
BBA or bilateral breast augmentation refers to the enhancement of the breasts using the surgical placement of an implant. There are 2 types of breast implant used – silicone or saline filled. Both types of implant are very safe, and each has its own set of advantages. During your consultation, Dr. Born will perform a thorough physical assessment, taking a series of measurements to evaluate your skin quality and other characteristics of your natural breast tissue and shape. All of these findings play an important role in determining the shape, size and optimal placement of the implants to achieve the best result possible. Breast Augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and the surgery usually takes about an hour to two hours to perform depending on the case. During the surgery, a small incision is made along the underside of the nipple. Dr. Born then creates a “pocket” within the breast tissue where he places the implant. Depending on the individual patient, the implant may be placed either above, or beneath the pectoral muscle. With breast augmentation surgery, Dr. Born aims to enhance the breast contour while ensuring the most comfortable, natural look and feel possible for the patient.
Am I a candidate for Bilateral Breast Augmentation?
Candidates for breast augmentation range in age from 18-70 years of age as long as they are in good health and fit for surgery under general anesthetic. If you developed breast asymmetry at an early age or after pregnancy, have noticed a loss of shape and volume over time or with weight loss, or are simply looking to enhance your breasts because you feel self-conscious in certain clothing, then breast augmentation may be an option for you. During your consultation, Dr. Born will perform a full physical assessment in order to gather the information he needs to develop a thorough treatment strategy. You will also discuss your personal goals and concerns. With all of this in mind, Dr. Born will determine which surgical technique and approach should be used in order to guarantee the best outcome with the least amount of risk.

* Keller Certified Practice
The Keller Funnel is a soft, sterile device that Dr. Born uses to deliver silicone breast implants more safely and easily into the breast pocket during breast augmentation surgery. The Keller Funnel has many benefits and is considered the most modern, effective implantation device for breast augmentation surgery. By using the Keller funnel, Dr. Born is able to:
- Reduce the incision length, thus minimizing any scarring.
- Apply less force during implantation, reducing trauma to the body during surgery and therefore limiting swelling and bruising post surgery
- Reduce the risk of infection with its “no touch” technique
- Reduce the risk of capsular contracture (hardening of breast tissue) post surgery
Practices that bear the Keller Certification Seal have been trained and tested on best practices and have demonstrated their ability with completion of a high number of surgeries using the device. The Keller funnel was introduced in 2009, and Dr. Born was among the first group of surgeons to embrace the use of the device.
What are the risks of Bilateral Breast Augmentation surgery?
It is important to remember that breast augmentation is not for everyone. Side effects can include swelling, bruising, numbness, tenderness and capsular contraction (hardening of the breast tissue). You can help minimize certain risks by following the advice and instructions of your plastic surgeon, both before and after your surgery. Dr. Born will discuss in detail all of the potential risks associated with your BBA surgery during your private consultation. Our pre-operative screening process is designed to determine if you are an ideal candidate for surgery so that we may avoid complications in the future.
